Meet the farmers
Our dedicated partners behind Rodelle’s gourmet vanilla ingredients.
Responsibly sourced
At Rodelle, our commitment to quality starts on the vanilla farms, with the skilled individuals who nurture and care for each season’s crop. By sustainably and responsibly sourcing our Madagascar vanilla direct from farmers, we’re able to produce a consistently exceptional vanilla extract that’s delivered with supply chain transparency and traceability.
From quality vanilla
to quality of life
Through our partnership with Sahanala, a farming cooperative in Madagascar, we return a portion of the proceeds from our vanilla sales to improve quality of life for the farmers who work tirelessly to nurture our premium vanilla beans. These dedicated individuals receive incentive payments that help fund better education, medical care, and food security within their communities. Rodelle is proud to maintain these close working relationships, and whenever possible, we strive to source our vanilla from Sahanala and other partners who invest in brighter, more sustainable futures for farmers and their communities.

Farmer Rasoanalaina Lydia
Zoto association founder
- Formed the Zoto association in 1998 to ensure that producers from the Farahalana rural municipality were supported and able to earn an income capable of supporting their families.
- After joining Sahanala in 2015, the Zoto association has seen steady improvement in their members’ standard of living: Some have built more permanent houses, and many are learning to better manage their finances.
- Re-elected during public elections by the 350 members of Zoto since 1998, Lydia prioritizes transparency and individual ownership of the link between producers and SAVAN, the joint venture between ADM and Sahanala.
- Over the next 10 years, Lydia hopes to build a high school and vocational training center for her village to promote education and youth initiatives.
Farmer Sabotsy Stephano
Vagnono association president
- Established the Vagnono association in 2017 to add value to the business.
- Works to ensure that his colleagues and all members of the community can live on the fruits of their work; says he has already seen major progress in improving the living conditions of the local communities.
- In only three years, has helped determine equitable prices for vanilla, and revels in the social support enabled by those sums: “We were able to benefit from a school that currently receives 60 students, received vaccines administered by SAVAN paramedics, sanitation and hygiene campaigns, and so on. This has completely changed the way of life of the peasants, and for the better. In addition, we received training on growing techniques that improved our performance.”
- Stephano claims that the significant improvements to quality of life have solidified the community’s faith in SAVAN’s human approach.
Farmer Sely Bemanana Ligo
Antsaha Vanille association founder
- Created the Antsaha Vanille association in 2012; the organization started with nine members and today has nearly 600 members spread across three rural municipalities in the SAVA region.
- Thanks to his skilled governance and popularity among his members and local communities, Ligo has repeatedly been re-elected as president of the association. Under his leadership, the organization has built two schools as well as buildings dedicated to municipal offices.
- The impact of the association's actions on improving the day-to-day lives of vanilla producers led the local community to ask Ligo to run for Ampanefena municipality elections. He won the 2015 elections unanimously.
